From our Program Director

TIGLFF 2009 has been wrapped up and put away, but the memories live on. In fact, I find myself still humming Dolly Parton's "He'll Come Again", courtesy of the pivotal scene in Patrik Age 1.5. And as the holidays roll closer, Make the Yuletide Gay seems more and more like my family's version of Miracle on 34th St. - watching it every year is a holiday tradition in the making.

There were so many special moments during the festival - catching up with old friends, seeing how TIGLFF has grown into a powerhouse of a festival, and celebrating 20 years of great film and community.

The film winners this year portrayed a true cross section of our community - and reflected the talents and vision of a new crop of filmmakers:

Best Women's Feature: I Can't Think Straight

Best Men's Feature: Patrik, Age 1.5

Best Doc: Prodigal Sons

Best Women's Short: A Day at the Beach

Best Men's Short: Dish

Emerging Filmmaker Award: Family, by Faith Trimel

But there's no time to rest on our laurels - now is the time to re-commit ourselves once again to scouring the globe for the best in LGBT cinema. Sundance has announced their lineup, the Berlin Film Festival is beginning to fall into place, and the summer fests that kick off the season are well into the film selection process.

Here at TIGLFF, we'll be gearing up as well - so stay tuned for more great cinema!

And don't forget our monthly film series - "Oy Vey, My Son is Gay" is one of the funniest films to come along in years - you won't want to miss it.

See you at the movies,

Margaret Murray
Programming Director
